Spinx Presents $70,000 to 2014 Spinx Charity Classic Golf Tournament Beneficiaries
“We are proud to bring together players, sponsors and volunteers for such an enjoyable tournament that directly benefits our local community” said Stewart Spinks, Founder and Chairman of Board of The Spinx Company.
The 2014 charity recipients were the American Red Cross-Greenville Chapter, Greenville Tech Foundation, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Junior Achievement of Upstate SC and Pendleton Place for Children and Families. Each of the charities shared what the gift will allow their organization to accomplish in the coming year and thanked the participants, vendors and donors.
“Through the wonderful support of Spinx, the caring staff at Pendleton Place for Children and Families will be able to continue to deliver quality services to children and families who have experienced trauma due to abuse or neglect,” shared Laurie Rovin, Executive Director.
“The gift to Junior Achievement empowers 500 kindergarten-12th grade children in the Upstate to achieve economic success” stated Connie Lanzl, President of the organization. “This gift addresses real world needs, provides real work knowledge, and contributes to real world solutions for gaps in achievement, work skills and financial literacy.”
Ann Wright, Regional Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross said, “The Spinx Company's generous support of the American Red Cross’ Ready 365 giving program helps us take all the necessary steps to be ready to respond when disasters happen in our community, including training for our disaster volunteers and Spinx Company employees.”
“Harvest Hope Food Bank is deeply grateful to Spinx for standing alongside us as we work together to end hunger in the Upstate” stated Jane Daniel, Director of Donor Relations. “Through The Spinx Co.’s generous contributions, Harvest Hope will be able to provide 75,000 meals to those struggling with hunger.”
Bob Howard of the Greenville Tech Foundation remarked, “The Spinx slogan is ‘making life easier.’ For the students who will receive the scholarships from this gift, the Spinx slogan could be ‘making life better.’ We certainly appreciate the support!”
Since its inception in 2001, the Spinx Charity Classic has given back nearly $900,000 to local charities aligned with its corporate charitable mission, “Spinx & Kids! Mind, Body, Spirit. Growing healthy kids where we live, work and play!”
The checks were distributed at Spinx Corporate Headquarters on June 24. The tournament committee wishes to thank its many sponsors, patrons and volunteers for a successful tournament.
