Spinx Announces 40th Anniversary Celebration Plans

This year marks 40 years of “Making Life Easier” for local gasoline-convenience retailer, The Spinx Co. In 1972, Stewart Spinks, founder and CEO of The Spinx Co., purchased his first store located on the corner of Washington Street and Laurens Rd in Greenville, S.C. Since 1972, The Spinx Co. has grown to over 65 locations employing over 700 associates in South and North Carolina.

“When I started my company with one service station in 1972, I wanted to make life easier for my customers,” said Spinks. “I’ve been very fortunate to be part of such a great community.”

The Spinx Co. plans to celebrate their 40th Anniversary with events throughout the year that are centered around their customers. The company plans to hold a 40th Anniversary Celebration event at a local store every 40 days throughout the year where they will give away free gas to 40 customers. The first event kicks off this Thursday, February 9th. The secret store location can be determined through a series of clues posted on the Spinx Facebook page. Customers can ‘like’ the Spinx Facebook page to receive alerts on the clues.

Says Spinks, “the secret free gas giveaway let’s us say thank you to our customers and have a little fun celebration too.”

In addition to store events throughout the year, The Spinx Co. will be offering $1,000 scholarships to 40 local high school seniors. The online scholarship application will open March 1, 2012 and will be available on www.myspinx.com/scholarship. Applications will be accepted through April 27, 2012 with the scholarships being awarded over the summer.

“It’s has always been the Spinx philosophy to support children and education and this scholarship program is a great way to help local students achieve their educational goals,” says Spinks.
