Greenville Relay for Life: Richard's Angels Raising Awareness and Funds Against Cancer.
Relay for Life starts with a Survivors Lap, which is an inspirational time when survivors and caregivers circle the track together and everyone helps celebrate the victories we’ve achieved over cancer.
The Luminaria Ceremony is held after dark, candles are lit inside bags which bear the name of a person touched by cancer. Participants often walk a lap in silence in honor of these people who have been touched by cancer.
Last, there is a Fight Back Ceremony, where a commitment is made to continue to fight against cancer.
In 2010, the Spinx family lost Richard Phipps, a dear friend and employee, to cancer. Soon after, the Spinx Relay for Life team was renamed Richard’s Angels and they continue to fight tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for cancer research in Richard’s memory. Through fundraisers, events and individual donations, Richard’s Angels are leading the way in Greenville’s Relay for Life.
Relay for Life of the Greenville Area is being held at JL Mann High School on May 18 at 7:00 PM. Interested in Donating or Joining our Team? Vist the Richard's Angels team page here.
